Circular economy

Another strategic focus of our sustainability activities is the circular economy. Our goals: We optimise the recyclability of our packaging, promote recycling and avoid waste within the company. We proactively implement upcoming legislation regarding the disposal of waste at our sites ahead of time.

Product responsibility is our watchword

Product responsibility ...

... is a top priority for us. This includes longevity, recyclability and utilisation concepts for our products. We actively help to avoid and separate waste and promote the switch to recyclable goods. We organise the return of our sales and transport packaging and its proper recycling in accordance with legal requirements.

Thinking actively about recycling

As a company that assumes product responsibility and recycles, we act proactively and promote dialogue with all stakeholders in politics and society. We bring all our expertise and experience to bear. This enables us to bring about a change in thinking towards greater product responsibility.

Preserving instead of replacing. Preserving the tried and tested.

Responsible handling of existing construction works and resources is one of our highest standards. Our products help to preserve and renovate building fabrics. This prevents demolition and new construction with a much higher use of resources and preserves the appearance of the construction works.

Restoration concretes, such as StoCrete TS 126 and StoCrete TS 136, have been specially developed for the restoration of buildings made of old concrete. We have set ourselves the task of repairing your concrete structures instead of demolishing them. Our aim is to guarantee maximum durability. For more sustainability by conserving natural resources. The mortars offer maximum durability. This reduces repair intervals and downtime. This protects our environment and saves costs.

Thinking about the end of the product right from the start

At Sto, we define the circular economy in such a way that our products can be separated - and therefore recycled. Our recycling concept aims to improve the separability of ETIC system components and to recycle packaging waste, material residues, construction site waste and demolition material. We pay particular attention to the development of dismantling and recycling processes in the area of external thermal insulation composite systems with polystyrene.

We use recycled materials in our products

We ensure that our products have a “second life” at the end of their life cycle, for example in the form of:

  • Recycled glass as expanded glass granulate in carrier boards and acoustic panels PET in acoustic products
  • Recycled aluminium
  • Steel in facade sub-constructions

Waste prevention and recycling at Sto locations

At our production sites, too, we are careful to avoid waste and to use recycled materials. We achieve this by constantly improving our production and logistics processes and separating our waste in a systematic way.
